Well we know there must really be a problem when the R&A release a guide on the pace of play for golf. They have governed the rules of golf for years, but writing a manual on this is another thing altogether.
One of my pet hates, is amateur players taking forever to play the game. I swear I’ve seen a snail or two pass by with some of the playing partners I’ve had over the years. Sometimes these people think they should replicate the professionals and their game will improve. Wrong. Well most of the time, you can actually learn some things there, but not how to speed up.
The aim of the manual is to assist in shaving 5 seconds off every shot. In a group of 4 this can lead to a saving of approximately 25 minutes per round. Imagine getting that time back in your life. That could mean an extra round of drinks or getting home earlier to the wife and kids.
You can find the manual on the R&W website or if you are really slow, I might have a spare printed copy in my golf bag which might be accidently dropped close by to you during the round.
Well worth a read, even for those who are quick.
