AussieGolfQuest Update – January 2017

Starting the new year in what will hopefully be the last to complete the 2016 list, a few trips up and down the eastern seaboard of Australia will be taken.

All of my goals were met for 2016, reaching a milestone of 90 courses played. In fact this was slightly exceeded reaching 91. This has been one of the most active year on my quest, 19 new courses were played everywhere in Australia (except for South Australia), whilst six courses played again.

Ranging from seaside parkland courses, golf links and arid desert, public and exclusive clubs, it has been one exceptional journey. Play was at:

1. Barwon Heads Golf Club
2. Thirteenth Beach Golf Links (Creek course)
3. The National Golf Club (Moonah Course)
4. Riverside Oaks Golf Resort (Bungool)
5. Spring Valley Golf Club
6. The Grand Golf Club
7. RACV Royal Pines Resort
8. Araluen Golf Resort
9. Secret Harbour Golf Links
10. Meadow Springs Golf & Country Club
11. The Cut Golf Links
12. Kalgoorlie Golf Course
13. Horsham Golf Club
14. The Federal Golf Club
15. Murray Downs Golf Resort
16. Alice Springs Golf Club
17. Capricorn Resort Golf Course
18. Royal Sydney Golf Club
19. Cranbourne Golf Club

This year also saw meetings with three people who I had only ever known on-line. One a Golf Digest ranking panel member. The next Slicey Tysie, also playing the Australian Top 100 courses and the last, a person not long into their World Top 100 adventure. It was great meeting all of you and look forward to playing again.

A special thanks must go out to members of clubs who have graciously invited me to play, as well as those who have assisted in making the planets align. Without their help this would be an almost impossible task.

With only nine courses remaining, one of those being the most exclusive or private in the country, the challenge is on to complete the 100 before a new list is released in 2018. This will see trips to four states, Queensland, South Australia, multiple to NSW and lastly Tasmania, where I hope to complete the list at Cape Wickham.

Look forward to seeing you out on the course.
