Playing Top 100 Golf Lists

As you should be well aware by now, this site is all about my quest to play Australia’s Top 100 Golf courses. I am using the list compiled by Golf Digest Australia. I’m not the first, nor will I be the last to do so. Since starting, it’s actually great to see two others who have achieved this. One actually being on the ranking panel now. For achieving such a feat, they are now on the honour roll. I’m sure they are not the only ones, so if you have also completed any top 100 Australian list, don’t hesitate to contact me.

On my adventure I have come across at least two who are also in the process, whether just starting or part way through. A few emails have come through, but in the end there is only a handful of people I know attempting to complete the top 100. There are those not content with only Australian courses, aiming even higher trying to complete the World Top 100. This unfortunately is beyond my logistical scope (although I have played 8 from the current list). Take note, I will be sharing a review of John Sabino’s book ‘How to Play the World’s Most Exclusive Golf Clubs: A Journey through Pine Valley, Royal Melbourne, Augusta, Muirfield, and More‘ (available on Amazon) once it arrives. John completed the World Top 100 a few years ago and details his experiences along the way.

One of the biggest benefits is meeting local club members when playing at some of the Top 100 golf courses. Always willing to give insight about their home club, but more importantly ensuring you feel welcome. An added benefit is building the social network. This is critical to gain access to certain clubs, as well as reducing costs.

The final goals have now been set:

  • Reaching 90 played by the end of 2016
  • Completing the remaining 10 by Feb 2018

With this in mind if there is anyone who can assist in gaining access to a couple of clubs proving difficult, The Grand and Ellerston, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Happy golfing and hope to bump into some of you along the way on the home stretch.
