An opportunity arose to play RACV Healesville Country Club, which is part of RACV Club in Melbourne. My friend James and I decided this would be a course worth visiting so off we ventured into the countryside.
The National Golf Club – Long Island Course
Long Island Country Club, located in the Melbourne Sandbelt holds its own against some of its more famous neighbours. This par 72 course originally built in 1938.
The National Golf Club Old Course
The National Golf Club was first launched during the Australian Masters tournament at Huntingdale Golf Club in 1985 as an equity shareholding. It was the first new club in Melbourne in 60 years.
Portsea Golf Club
In an effort to get my quest to play Australia’s top 100 golf courses on track again, playing Portsea Golf Club, one of the oldest in the region, worked well with a weekend trip away which had been planned to the Mornington Peninsula.
Augusta National Golf Club
Augusta National Golf Club. What more can be said, other than a sensational course. Just to be clear I didn’t play this course but visited during the 2011 Masters, an experience I will never forget.
Heritage Golf and Country Club St Johns Course
The Heritage Golf & Country Club has been a course I have struggled to get a game on for a while. This ‘Signature’ Jack Nicklaus designed course is the first one to be built in Australia.
Royal Melbourne Golf Club East Course
With so much tournament golf on TV the last few months featuring this magnificent club, I knew it was time to return and finish my last course on the Melbourne Sandbelt.
The Australian Golf Club
An opportunity arose where I was invited to play The Australian Golf Club for one of their twilight events, golf and dinner, by one of its members. How could I refuse.
Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club South Course
Peninsula Kingswood C.G.C. was established in 1925 in Frankston and is a 36 hole establishment. One of less known of the Sandbelt courses but well worth the visit.
Cottesloe Golf Club
Wanting to not travel to far from the city, I thought it a great time to complete all the courses in Perth’s city regions area. The last on my list was Cottesloe Golf Club. After contacting the clubs general manager, I was informed that four holes were out of play due to construction. Second thoughts then arose, but being offered a reduced green fee I decided to play the course anyway.
